can be surprising. So could Queen Victoria.

Fiona did the carving but they all helped scoop
out the seeds. Result: thoroughly satisfactory.

Better Than Drawing Flies

These
Craft Day honey vendors had the right stuff, for sure – honeybee-approved. The
local insects showed up from all over town. The apiarists chuckled that a free bee came

Queen Victoria's Isle of Wight
Bathing Machine
by Bluebottle
By
special request from the Editor, who got quizzical looks when mentioning bathing
machines. ('Oh, they've mechanised that now, have they?')
I've been to Osborne House many a time, and
took these photos of the bathing machine a few years ago. Beside the bathing
machine is the deckhouse of HMY Alberta, which was the royal yacht used for
cross-Solent voyages, including when Victoria’s body was carried to the
mainland after her death.
In my home town of Sandown Lewis Caroll wrote
The Hunting of the Snark including the lines
The
fourth is its fondness for bathing-machines,
Which it
constantly carries about,
And
believes that they add to the beauty of scenes
— A
sentiment open to doubt.
