The Hooverville Hexagon: They Just Turned Around…

Surprise Mountain

by Angel Lia Dan

Sleeping cat mountain - at least that's what it looks like from here.

Passed on by her mom, Galaxy Babe: Angel says hi from Switzerland. They are up a mountain in the Alps. She looked around and saw this sleeping cat. Thought of me, and you! So here you are.

We're still trying to figure out what this mountain peak is really called, so if you have an idea, please let us know. All we know is, Swiss Alps, Rigidalstock2593masl, Wolfenschiessen.

Do you think anyone could go to Crystal Palace Park in London and take photos of the newly restored 19th Century dinosaurs for us?

Anybody headed to London? Especially someone who likes dinosaurs? Like, really a lot?

Surprise Kitty Visit

by Angel Lia Dan

A small buff-and-white cat with black ear tips sleeping curled up in a garden

Galaxy Babe explains: Here is Romeo, a cat who has been waiting for Angel's cat Rossi (who crossed the rainbow bridge last year). She is the neighbour's cat but she prefers to spend her time in Rossi's garden, just in case he exits the front door. Angel has set up a bed of straw inside the garden perimeter so she's safe from the road.

We are all miss Rossi, Romeo. He was a well-travelled kitty. Here he is in happier times playing camouflage at an old castle. He always was a bit elusive to us mere mortals. We hope you are comforted in his garden. His family appreciate the visit.

Rossi the cat, well-camouflaged against a stone wall.

Dragon in a shop window in Inverness

Old joke format from the Editor's childhood: Now, that's something you don't see every day, Jonesy.

What's that, Edgar?

A dragon in a shop window.

Somebody probably said, it's serve yourself.

  1. Just saw the cat because I wasn't looking for it and the first time it appeared I didn't see it for looking as they say. The mountain is striking. Didn't I see something recently about drache being German for dragon? Ah yes now I remember, it was about Ian Fleming and the villain in one of his books 'Moonraker' being called that but in the film it was changed to Hugo Drax.

    1. If you live in Bonn, Germany, you can easily hike a short distance along the Rhine bank to the Drachenfels, which also makes a nice Sunday climb to the top for a pleasant view and the traditional coffee and cake.
In my student days the Drachenfels was known as 'the highest mountain in the Netherlands' because of the large number of Dutch visitors.
